What’s the point of DayZ?
The goal of DayZ is to stay alive and healthy during the conditions of the zombie outbreak that have befallen the in-game world.
Is DayZ a multiplayer game only?
There are two ways to play DayZ in single-player, at least on PC: Create a private LAN server. Download and install the DayZ Community Offline Mode mod.
The only thing is there are no other players. You first need to download the DayZ mod to access the offline single-player mode. To do so, search for “DayZ solo mode” and a github link will pop up – download it from there.
Is rust better than DayZ?

Is DayZ map bigger than Rust?
Each map is around 64 KM². In comparison, Chernarus in DayZ is around 225 km2 and it looks like the map size in Rust can vary and from what I can tell from a quick Google search, “The default map is 16km^2. The smallest should be 4km^2, while the largest is 64km^2.”
Of the two games, Rust is easier to figure out. The crafting system gives you a clear path to follow in your early hours. You chop trees to get wood for your first shelter, smash rocks to get stone for your first hatchet, and so on.
