The Sportsmen’s Center is responsible for issuing Fort Hood hunting, area access, fishing, and ATV permits and conduct the Fort Hood Hunt Program and the Area Access Program. No by mail, Fort Hood permits issued. Possession of duplicate permits prohibited.
Can civilians Hunt Fort Hood?
Everyone – including Soldiers, civilians and retirees – is able to hunt on the installation, but recognizing and following Fort Hood and Texas state hunting laws is required.
Can you carry a gun on Fort Hood?
All personnel (military or civilian) who live on the installation or will possess, transport, or carry a firearm on the installation at any time must register with the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) as per III Corps & Fort Hood Regulation 190-11. Firearms will be registered under the owner’s information.
Can you hunt on military bases?
The military provides opportunities for active duty, retired and disabled service members, and even civilians, to hunt and fish where they are stationed and where they live. In fact, the Sikes Act of 1960 recognizes the value of military lands to the conservation of our natural resources.
