Cincinnati head football coach Luke Fickell is leaving the Bearcats to take the head coaching job at the University of Wisconsin, WLWT has confirmed. According to Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde, cornerbacks and special teams coach Kerry Coombs has been named as UC’s interim head coach.

Fickell is a Columbus native (DeSales High School, where he was a state wrestling champion) and a 1997 graduate of Ohio State where he was a four-year starter at nose guard while earning his degree in exercise science.

Luke started a school-record 50 consecutive football games for Ohio State. After a red-shirt year in 1992, he started every game at nose guard for coach John Cooper between 1993-96.
