There is a very reliable team behind the production. Sadly, there is also a pervasive realization that nothing really works. Landscapes and close ups are admirable in their clarity but drained of any emotions. The lack of musical score is jarring making the “silence” way too overbearing and boring.

Silence is a very slow-paced, but creative film that escalates over time.
Silence is about faith, but it’s also an interrogation of colonialism, a movie that sees two white actors spend every scene preaching to or being interrogated by a cast of Asian actors. Martin defends missionary work as pure-hearted, but allows that the history of spreading the gospel isn’t perfect.

Cultists attempt to drag Ally out of the house and Grandma Lynn fights them off.Lynn sacrifices herself by screaming and causing the Vesps to devour her and the cultists. The remaining members of the Andrews family are later shown up north alive and well with Ally’s boyfriend Rob (Dempsey Bryk).
