What was TanaCon supposed to be?
On the weekend of June 22-23, YouTuber Tana Mongeau planned a VidCon alternative called TanaCon after she felt disrespected by VidCon when they did not give her a Featured Creator badge. Depending on where you time spend on the internet, that sentence may not make an ounce of sense, so let’s break it down.
Who was behind TanaCon?
TanaCon was a disaster and the new video from Good Life CEO Michael Weist, the company that set up the event, goes behind the scenes to show what went wrong.
Who sponsored TanaCon?
Mongeau is producing the event alongside Good Times Entertainment, a digital talent management company, events producer, and production company founded by the 21-year-old DJ and entrepreneur Michael Weist. Thorne’s record label, Filthy Fangs, will serve as a sponsor, alongside custom VIP package startup Veeps.
How did TanaCon fail?
And, in a way, so Tanacon died. The event was barely six hours into its first day when it was shut down by officials for overcrowding, sending thousand of teens — many who had been waiting hours outside in the sun — into a tizzy.
