AutoSave is a new feature available in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 subscribers that saves your file automatically, every few seconds, as you work. AutoSave is enabled by default in Microsoft 365 when a file is stored on OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, or SharePoint Online.
How do I get Word to AutoSave every minute?
Go to File > Options > Save. Make sure the Save AutoRecover information every x minutes box is selected. Make sure the Keep the last autorecovered version if I close without saving box is selected. (or press Ctrl+S) often.
Can I recover a file I didn’t save?

If no file is found you need to find the Autosave file and copy it to the location shown when Recover is used. These can be found via File, Open and clicking the Recover Unsaved Documents button found at the very bottom of the Recent File List.
